The Gift of Art Winners Announced 2019

The Southern Utah Art Guild is proud to present its “Gift of Art” holiday art show that will run from November 8 through December 19 in the Red Cliff Gallery.
The show features 176 works of art from 56 Southern Utah Artists. The show consists of contemporary art from all mediums including all forms of painting and mixed media, photography, pottery, sculpture and other.
The show is open from 10 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday.
The Red Cliff Gallery is located in the St. George City Commons Building, 220 N 200 E, in St. George.
The “Gift of Art” show award winners are:
Best of Show – Ken Ragsdale for “Autumn in the Wasatch” – 3D Wood Vase
First Place Painting – Mark Gamett for “Winter Willows” – Pastel
Second Place Painting – Jenna Lineweaver for “Bloomin’ Cactus” – Oil and Mixed Media
Third Place Painting – Mishel Goodrich for “Mr. Goodrich” – Pen and Ink
Painting Honorable Mention – Georgia Johnson for “Zion National Park” – Acrylic
Painting Honorable Mention – Kimberly Jackson for “Before Paris” – Pastel

The People’s Choice Award from previous art show – Miriam Hansen for “Summer Delight” – Mixed Media
The judges for the show were Susan Bingham and Van Mangus:
Susan Bingham along with her husband, Paul, is a collector, art dealer, gallery owner, artist and co- founder of the Thunderbird Foundation for the Arts founded in 2001 in order to preserve, restore and place on the National Register of Historic places the home and property of famed American artist Maynard Dixon. The couple have been dealers in Dixon’s work for 40 years working directly with Dixon’s widow Edith Hamlin Dixon. They represent well known American contemporary artists at the Thunderbird Foundation Gallery which is adjacent to the Dixon property in Mt. Carmel, Utah.
Van Mangus currently works in the Art Department at Dixie State University. He is the advisor for the Visual Arts and teaches classes ranging from Introduction to the Arts to Artistic Website Design. Although he utilizes multiple mediums regarding his art, he specializes in watercolor and ink. He believes that all individuals have the talent to express themselves through creative art forms and cultivates this expression within his art students.
